A cloud streaming service can sit between your console and the destination platform, then add scenes, overlays, alerts and other browser-based elements before the stream reaches viewers.
That means you can build a more polished Xbox or PlayStation stream without buying a capture card or dedicated streaming computer first.
Depending on the service and plan:
On Xbox, the workflow in the newer tutorials is built around selecting the cloud service as the stream destination from the console broadcast controls, then matching the output resolution/bitrate to the project you created online.
The console itself still starts the stream.
PlayStation is also supported in the source tutorials, although Brandon repeatedly notes that setup has historically required a few more steps than Xbox.
