The microphones were gain/level matched as closely as practical and presented without the normal creator processing chain.
That makes the comparison useful for hearing the underlying tonal differences rather than comparing one mic with EQ/compression against another without it.
The first SM7B sample accidentally had its rear presence/bass switches engaged.
A corrected flat-profile sample was included so the comparison would not rely on that altered setting.
Price does not map cleanly to “sounds better.”
